"Portals"

I've always been curious about this human contraption the door...I know, I know, other creatures have them but they aren't nearly as obsessed with them as we humans are.  The door allegedly provides us safety and comfort and keeps the 'insides in' and the 'outsides out'.  We lock & unlock them, and open & close them.  We shape them and color them, we yell through them and we hide behind them.  We peek through them via tiny holes, and in a panic, we've been known to kick them down.  We gloat about them, and sometimes we even remove doors from their frames and dispose of them altogether!

I see the door, or portal as I'm fond of calling it, as a symbol for larger things, things having to do with our origins, how we choose who we become, how we got here...and how we leave.
